POLICE in Mazabuka have issued a security advisory after receiving information that some individuals may be planning activities capable of disturbing public peace, safety and order in the district.
Southern Province Commanding Officer Moono Namalongo said that while the right to assemble and participate in lawful public activities is protected by law, organizers of public gatherings must comply with legal requirements and cooperate with police to ensure order.
Police appealed to political parties, candidates, supporters and the public to exercise restraint and consider temporarily suspending activities that may escalate tensions or lead to violence in Mazabuka Central.
“Any person engaging in violence, disorderly conduct, or any criminal activity likely to endanger public safety or breach the peace will be dealt with firmly in accordance with the laws of the Republic of Zambia,” Namalongo said.
He said police remain committed to facilitating lawful public gatherings and maintaining peace, law and order before, during and after elections.
